http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=537Beautiful weather in the high 90’s but not 100’s this week, Instead of heat we were humid. Strong winds plagued fisherman this week, many of them not able to escape the wind all day. The water temp is climbing in to the upper 70’s which are turning on the Stripers. Striped Bass are feeding on shad under the surface about 5-15 feet. They still are not on the boil pattern yet,we see them bust the surface occasionally but it’s not consistent with years past.
Large mouth Bass are feeding on shad as well and we have been catching them on small Jerkbaits such as lucky craft or yo-zuri pin minnows. The Smallmouth are becoming active hitting spinners like panther martins about 15 – 25 feet down. My good friend Dr. Al was up here fishing here is his report.
‘’ Hi Danny: Al Hurwitz of Saratoga trolled for Smallmouth Bass on 7/16/15 and had some success, catching fish 10-15 feet below the surface. The really big boys dint hit yet, the largest weighing between 1- 2 lbs . Temperature 75 degrees at the surface. Used feathered Panther Martins with success, putting Shad and Anchovy scent on the lures. When the afternoon wind came up, they were actively biting along the rocks and surface cover on the western shore just north and opposite the marina. Even the smaller ‘’Smallies’’ are great fighters and very acrobatis. Lots of fun when they hit!
All the best, Dr. Al Hurwitz’’ Thank you everyone and good luck! - Dan

Hot and sunny for the week highs stayed in the upper 90‘s and low 100's with a minimal breeze. Striped Bass are attacking Anchovies all over the lake. Lake temps are entering the 75 degree range which is quite warm. We had our first catfish plant yesterday of 750 lbs so the cat fishing will be exceptional in the upcoming week. Cats like to hide in and amongst the weed beds and under fallen trees, timber, and logs. Most cats prefer warm shallow water......

Due to my absence from Monday to Friday I missed out on some action but I got some reports from our locals. We had a heat spell set in over the week rising the water temperature to 73 degrees. We had some rain on Wednesday surprisingly after a day of over 105 degrees. The Lake level is still only about 3-4 feet down from full so there is plenty of water to fish, boat, and swim. Catfish came on the bite this week due to......
