http://www.silverlakeresort.netThe weather has continued to be warm for us in the high country as we have been in the mid to high 80’s over the past week plus. Cooler weather is on the horizon in the next few days which should help make the consistent fishing better. We have been a little slow on the consistent side of fishing lately but still have seen a good number of larger Rainbows brought in this past week. We have seen about 10 fish weighing in over 3 pounds and four fish weighing in over 5 pounds just this past week. The fishing has been slow mid day when it has been hot and we have seen the best results early in the morning and later in the afternoon when it is cooler and the shadows are on the water. We did receive 400 pounds from DFW this week with roughly 100 pounds of those being larger 2 plus pound Rainbows. Anglers have continued to see the best results down at the bottom of the lake in the cooler waters using Berkley products from dough baits with Garlic in them to Mice Tails of all colors. We have also started to see some good results again with different lures in a gold and silver pattern, as well as the ever faithful Gold/Red Thomas Buoyant. Some flies that have been working well this week have been Red and Yellow Humpies and some Sierra Bright Dots. Don’t give up yet on the fishing as the cooler weather is right around the corner and can only help with the results. As schools begin to start again for the year, don’t forget that we still have one more big party this year and it will be our Annual Labor Day Weekend Celebration to be held Saturday September 5th with our Horseshoe Tournament and BBQ to begin at 11am on that Saturday. September the 5th will also be a free fishing day throughout the state of California so what better way to celebrate Labor Day then free fishing, BBQ and Horseshoes. It doesn’t get any more American than that. Also a quick note that we are starting to see some patchy spots of Fall Colors in the Aspens throughout our area, so watch for the beauty of Fall to be right around the corner.
Happy Fishing and W Will See You at The Lake!!!
Fish of the Week:
The Salazar clan was in town this past week and they knocked it cold fishing from a boat on Silver Lake all week. With plenty of stringers of fish to prove it. The Patriarch of the family Pedro Salazar of La Habra hauled in this beautiful 6 pound 10 ounce Rainbow caught from a boat on Silver Lake using Garlic Power Bait. Nice job Mr. Salazar!!!!!
