Water temperature was 56 degrees. Fishing was definitely tough this week. Many fishermen reported bites all over the lake but had trouble getting a good hook set and landing the fish. The few successful fishermen stuck with a slightly bigger hook and a smaller piece of bait to land some nice channel cats. The colder water slows down their metabolism so bigger chunks of bait will translate to more nibbles than hard hits. The bass were also picky and seemed to only go after live worms in the afternoon. Fishing about 15 ft deep along Jack Rabbit Flats was the best way to go for a few smallies and largies.

Bass: Fair, Avg Size: 1.5lbs
Catfish: Fair, Avg Size: 1lb

While the catfish bite slowed down a bit over the last week, the bass continued to hit hard. Jack Rabbit Flats and the rock wall between Johnson Bay and Clark Canyon were the best spots for a consistent bite. The smallmouth are ranging from 1-2lbs on average while the largemouth are about 2lbs. Cranks, swim baits, and of course night crawlers are working well out there. Additionally, some decent sized crappie were pulled in around Santa Cruz point......
