Unfortunately we haven't had any reports at all from the West Walker for the last 6 weeks or so. The Southern part of the open section from the Hwy 395 bridge and through the steeper canyon section is pretty frozen, as you get closer to the town of Walker there is more open water and I think your chances of success would be better in that area. I'd probably suggest attractor nymphs like a prince, pheasant tail or zug bug or possibly small wooly buggers or matukas drifted through the pockets. The water will be low and clear so keep it in stealth mode for your best chance at bagging some winter trout.
