http://www.royalpolaris.comIt was another day of slugging it out with the big boys here and our persistency and hard work scratched up another nice total of 23 tuna and 12 wahoo. Biggest fish of the day was a kite caught 204 by Walter Howard.
Since it was a kite fish it was ineligible for the reel that’s still out there for the biggest over 200 but it was a great fish and Walter certainly deserved it.
John Pierson took a stab at it but fell 6 pounds short with a 194 which crushed his previous best fish. A few days ago John had one of those epic battles on a huge fish which ended poorly for him (and much better for the fish), so it was great that he got his revenge today.
The majority of the fish were caught off the kite today, and bait fish were much harder to come by. There were several windows when the kite went off steadily and of course those times when it didn’t also. No real patterns as to time of day as far as the bite, almost nothing in the morning, but you pretty much have to stay in the water in some fashion all the time to be ready when it happens. The weather has and continues to be fabulous though in the midafternoon you find yourself wishing for a few clouds. We’re staying here and repeating the process tomorrow.
POEM OF THE DAY
In Finland the sharks formed a group
And took down a 50 foot sloop
They ate the whole crew
In the national stew
You know it as shark’s Finn soup.
