We are happily bouncing along on our way to Cabo. Sun is shining as it has been all trip, and seas are a bit choppy but very manageable so no complaints about anything. While we didn’t set the world on fire as far as catching fish goes, all in all it was another wonderful trip for me and I’m sure everyone else. Our total of 173 tuna and 127 wahoo is certainly nothing to fret about any ways.
Weather was just fantastic, food was out of this world, and we all got to tug on big fish often enough that we are going home with sore muscles, bruises, and beat up hands which we will display with honor. One of the main reasons this trip is always so enjoyable is the fun we all have with Jack on board. We enjoy his music, his sense of humor, his tackle, the pictures and videos he will eventually send to any one that wants them (everyone!), and as far as prizes go, nobody does it better. I hope I’ve made mention of all the major prizes and recipients, but I didn’t mention that he was constantly drawing random numbers for smaller prizes such as hooks, jigs, hats, and other items too numerous to mention.
He could have saved the reel and pliers that went unclaimed for a future charter, but that would be very un-Jackish. Instead, they will go to the Friends of Rollo Foundation which as most of you know has been set up to take kids fishing who probably otherwise couldn’t. Once again we want to thank him, Accurate reels, and the other sponsors who contributed: Cal Star Rods, Seeker Rods, Tokar hooks, SKB tackle boxes, and Hi-Seas/American Fishing Wire.
Another thing that makes every trip I’ve ever taken on the R.P. memorable and fun is the fantastic crew. They are always eager to cater to your every need and are not only amazingly proficient at what they do, they have fun and make sure you do also. This trip my hat goes off to Big D, Eddie, Doug, Deron, Jonathan and of course our chefs Mark and Alex. The food was out of sight with a truly varied and international assortment of gourmet dishes. From stuffed mushrooms to breast of duck and everything in between it not only tasted wonderful, but the presentation of every meal could easily make for a cover picture on any epicurean magazine. If anyone hasn’t gained weight on this trip it is solely due to burning up calories during our Herculean efforts at the rail.
Last and not only not least but foremost, is our thanks to our skipper Frank. There were few if any times that I was awake on this trip that he wasn’t somewhere In sight working hard to find fish or to do his best to insure that if one was hooked up it would be landed. Not even he can make the fish bite when they don’t want to, but there can be absolutely no doubt in anyone’s mind that he was trying his best to make it so. Though it could never be enough, I don’t know what else I can say about the crew and our host. Look for more of my poems in early Dec. and then again on this trip next Feb. I’ll be back and I know most all of the same guys will be at the rail next to me.
POEM OF THE DAY
At the Cape we were watching for whales
When two billfish came over the rails
It was no surprise
The Cabo skies
Are filled with pair-a-sail

Hello everyone; Well we are on the move. After we dropped off most of our passengers, we are headed north. With good weather, flat seas, and clear skies, it’s great going north. We are making good speed and we might even have some time to make a few stops for some rockfish. The crew is busy getting the boat ready for the eco trips, cleaning and just catching up on some much needed rest. We......

Headed For Cabo At about 2:00 this afternoon we reeled in the lines for the final time and began our cruise to Cabo. I wish I could tell you that we ended the trip with a strong finish but the total for the day was only 3 tuna and 1 wahoo. Ok, I know what you’re thinking. It was the last few hours of fishing and everyone was more interested in breaking down their tackle than spending time at the rail.......
