Hello RP Fans,

We made the trip to Hurricane in time to get a load of flyers for the kite. Things looked promising as we had a good morning bite with a few nice fish including a 185lber by Rich Losey.

We had tons of little ones before the sharks moved in. From that point, it was straight sharkin’! We trolled around for 46 wahoo the biggest was also caught by Richard Losey.

We set the anchor to try again for tuna and got straight sharks, moved again and got straight sharks, moved again and got straight sharks. Captain Yamate then shifted strategy and drifted. We immediately started catching fish on the kite. The largest fish was caught by yours truly and weighed 193lbs (yep, a blind squirrel can still find his nuts!).

Harry Yokoyama caught his personal best at 160lbs and was hosed down for his triumph (please note wind was blowing 20 knots and it was not warm). We ended the day with 31 tuna for our efforts.

We had a super cool event just as the sun was going down. The small tuna were chasing a huge school of small flyers. They were flying around all over the place pinging off the boat and passengers. We thought that was entertaining until they seemed to organize in formation and charge the boat, it was literally raining flyers. We were under attack, passengers were crying out “I’m hit, I’m hit” as 4 inch flyers pinged off all body parts. We couldn’t stop laughing as none of us have ever experienced anything like that. It was quite a sight!

Richard would like to say hello to Linda and happy anniversary! He is dedicating the large tuna today to you (that’s about as romantic as fisherman get, sorry). Aaron, your dad says hi and can’t wait to see you. Harry says hi to Ling and hopes Bill feels better.

If you would like to go fishing with us please BOOK ONLINE or call (619) 226-8092 to get in on the action.

Hi RP Fans; Rather than feed a bunch of nice tuna to the resident population of silky and Galapagos brown sharks for the rest of the trip, we decided to make a move after the morning session to Hurricane Bank. We had an initial flurry of tuna in the morning with a handful of tuna up to 120lbs and a few wahoo. Several more got mauled and it wasn’t enough to keep us in the Buffer Zone. We will arrive......
