It was an excellent fishing opener and everyone at the resort is looking forward to a great 2016 fishing season. It was another cool opener with some snow on Saturday. The weather didn't stop the fishermen from getting out on the lake and landing some quality fish. Below I posted a few of the larger fish of the weekend. As far as the Opening Weekend Derby a number of tagged fish were caught but unfortunately they were hold overs from the 2015 fall derby. So no cash winners.

Catch of the Weekend: Congratulations to John Montgomery from Bishop, CA with the largest fish pulled out of Convict Lake and check-in at the general store. John was using a Chartreuse Powerbait when he landed this stout 9 pound 10 ounce rainbow.

Other notable catches this week:

Daniel Mata from Santa Clarita, CA caught this lunker while fishing the Inlet. Daniel's fish was a 7 pound 11 ounce Rainbow and he used a Nightcrawler to land this monster.

Joe Ruiz of Long Beach, CA with a superb catch along the South Shore. Joe hooked this 7 pound 7 ounce beauty using a Marvel Fly.

Other Derby News: The Round-Up at the Lake Fishing Derby started on Sunday, May 1st. Come join us for a chance to win $6,000 in resort prizes! Also mark your calendars for the Hangman's Bonus Cash Weekend on June 3-5. $2200 in cash prizes.
