http://www.fishingvideos.comThe Becker charter aboard the Shogun returned November 12 to Fisherman's landing after a ten-day trip with skipper Bruce Smith. Like most fall ten-day trips, the catch on this one was well-mixed with species, including yellowtail, tuna, grouper, rockfish, dorado and wahoo.
"Not great fishing here at the rocks," wrote Smith November 8, "but good action. A number of wahoo were brought over the rail, along with yellowfin ranging anywhere from 18 to 80 pounds. Tonight we are in the process of making tubes and Spanish mackerel for bait in hopes of a night-time bite on the bigger yellowtail."
Blue Water Tackle owner Kent Sliger of Solana Beach won first and second places, for tuna of 83 and 765 pounds. To get the big one, he said he went with a mackerel on a 7/0 Eagle Claw hook, with 25 feet of 50-pound fluorocarbon tied to 65-pound Power Pro Spectra on an Avet LXJ reel and a Calstar 765 L rod.
Russell Hardin of Denver, CO won third place for a 73-pound tuna. Two 49-pound yellowtail caught by Ken Nefroney of Huntington Beach and Bill Morris of Hermosa Beach stood in with the winners.
