Capt Scott McDaniels checked in as they are headed out on their 3 day trip, we wanted to update everyone know how to be successful with all these big fish around. We only get this kind of bite about every 75 years, they have been ranging from 70 to 260 lbs and many fish have been lost due to not having the right gear. We recommended that you have a 2 speed reel with a backing of a minimum of 60 lb spectra line, 60 lb monofiliment line and 60 lb flourocarbon. We also recommend that you use ringed circle hooks, some boats do not like them but we do and highly recommend them. If you come on the boat prepared you will have more of a chance of landing these big tuna, these fish are stong and being prepared will increase ours and your fish counts. This year is going in the record books as the year of the big tuna, good luck on the ocean.

If you would like to go fishing with us please BOOK ONLINE. You can give us a call at the landing (619) 222-1144 or call Scott at (619) 247-8971 to get in on the action.
