East Walker River Update

The river is running at about 340 cfs right now, it’s been at that flow for several days now. I’ve talked to a few anglers who have ventured down there but haven’t had much success this past week. With conditons like this you’ll need to use some extra weight to get your bugs down to the bottom where the fish are hanging out. It will be difficult to get a good drift at the right depth but it is certainly possible, 4X tippets for your small midge patterns and 2X or 3X tippets for your streamers. Patterns I’d be giving a try down there include: flashback emergers, zebra midge, wd-40, miracle nymph, pheasant tail, copper John, wooly bugger, seal bugger, zuddler, zonker, sculpzilla, and double bunny.
