First trips of the season

Big Hungry

Report Date:

Capt. Markus Medak aboard his boat New Lo-An returned on April 29th with 5 Bluefin Tuna ranging from 60lbs to over 100lbs. Several more Bluefin were hooked during the trip but these larger fish found their way to freedom. Shimano Flat Fall jigs and sinker rigs seemed to be the ticket for hooking these bigger fish.

The next day, Capt. Markus was back out with another eager group of anglers and found a school of 20# to 30# Bluefin willing to bite. When the dust settled, 28 Bluefin Tuna were resting comfortably in the RSW well. Please make sure to bring a 60# or 80# outfit if you plan on fishing offshore for these larger tunas. Here is a picture of one of the larger BFT from Saturday’s trip
