For the last few weeks, the fishing has been rather slow due to winds and constant temperature change in the weather. Although, the fishing [overall] has been slow, Crappie and Catfish fishing is fair. For those who enjoy these two types of fish, check out Cachuma Bay, specifically towards the back of the bay (reeded areas) and check out Harvey's Cove. Garlic worms and Mackerel, have been the most efficient and common bait for these types of fish. Unfortunately, for those that may want to fish for Trout, the fishing has been slow_ However, troll near the dam, specifically, Clark's cove. They are about 15-25 feet from surface, so add either a split shot or a egg sinker to achieve the necessary depth. Small mouth bass have been sighted more frequently and fishing is picking up. Many people have caught them on Rapalas or rubber worms or black and yellow Panther Martins.

The wind has made fishing hard this last week with bass leading the catch, hitting synthetics and worms. A 7 lb trout was the kill of the week landed in bobcat canyon off a spinner bait. The crappie are starting to rear their heads with one angler claiming his limit from the east end of the lake off a jig. the cats are starting to bite on mackerel. Well, the trout bite has slowed way down for whatever reason which is not a good sign, however, the catfish bite has picked way up in the last few days. And wait for it the crappie have started to bite. Trouble is, you gotta work for them since the lake came up there is a lot more area you have to cover to find them.
