http://www.sportfishingreport.comThe 2 day SFR charter on the Pacific Star with Captain Mike Bullard was a hunt for big fish as the group decided to chase the WSB that have been biting at Catalina Island instead of the San Nic. rockfish. The squid were floating as thick as I've ever seen at Catalina and the crew had no problem filling the tank with live squirters. The first white seabass stared biting in the dark and they were all nice grade fish in the 25-40lb class. We picked away at them and by the time the bite died we had put 17 nice Catalina seabass on the decks. We headed to San Clemente for a few calicos and rockfish but decided to return to Catalina for another shot at the seabass. Word got out and by morning I counted over 75 boats in the immediate area. Very few seabass were caught due to the resulting boat traffic. We worked our way aroud the island for a few more seabass from the kelp lines and 4 legal halibut during a drift. All in all it was a great trip with a great chance at catching a nice Catalina White Seabass. Thanks again to Captain Bullard and the crew aboard the Pacific Star.
