Greetings from Lake Cuyamaca: !! More STOCKING!! Mt. Lassen will be stocking 1,200 lbs of there finest rainbow trout. The Weather is co-operating with nicer days and the trout seem to love it.. If the wind comes up use a shorter leader and fish closer to the bottom Crappie are plentiful, taking tube jigs below a bobber. The shore line action has been good using power bait and inflated night crawlers with boats experiencing the same action with bait. The Bass are up in the shallows for the spawn!!
OPEN EVERY DAY 6AM--- SUNSET
Trout Bait: 16-24 inch leader off the bottom inflated night crawler smeared with scent, Power Bait. (Pautzkes Krill gel or liquid Krill scent)
Best Trout Lures: Fire Tiger Rapala, Little Cleo, Kastmaster. Use scent (Krill gel works best)
Best Trout Spots: T-Dock, Fox Hole, Lone Pine, Chambers Park .
Notable: Kathie and Roy Porter, Ocean Beach 2 limits 17 lb 4 oz largest 3lb 4 oz. Don Wallis, San Diego, 8lbs 8oz (limit), Night crawler, Lone Pine. Bill Wheeler and Billy Wise La Mesa 3 trout , Mike Sexton, Lake Cuyamaca, 5.5lbs Large mouth Bass, Jig, South end. Joseph Clarke age 6 6.75 lb limit including his first fish ever. Jim Bennett Serra Mesa 7 lb limit 1?? hour.
Fly Fishing: Seeing some trout activity on the surface in the down by the dam.
Nature Walk: The guided walk will be rescheduled .The trail is open for daily use. 3 1/2 miles around the lake.
Free Fishing Class Saturday at 10:AM: Ranger Charlie will teach tried and true trout tactics, using Baits, Tube Jigs, and Lures along with Mini Jigs for Crappie, plus Night Crawlers for Bullheads.
Prognosis:!! If this weekend is any indication of things to come, the fishing should be great. Bass are in the shallows. Wild flowers are in bloom adding to the colors of spring!! Bring the family and enjoy a wonderful day with us !!!!!!
