Nehalem River Fishing Report

OR Department of Fish & Wildlife Staff

Report Date:

http://www.dfw.state.or.us

Fishing on Nehalem bay has been slow, as most fish headed up river following the last freshet. There could still be fresh fish coming in, however, and trolling herring or spinners can be effective techniques. Expect fishing to remain very slow.

The North Fork Nehalem has been slow recently for hatchery coho as the run winds down. A few fall Chinook are available also. Bobber fishing or drift fishing bait, throwing spinners, twitching jigs are all good techniques.

Anglers are reminded that there is NO wild coho retention in the rivers and bays this year, and that two rods are prohibited on all coastal rivers, tidewater, estuaries and bays.
