Wilson River Fishing Report

OR Department of Fish & Wildlife Staff

Report Date:

There are a few steelhead getting caught on the Wilson, but overall the fishing has been slow. Expectations are that this week’s freshet should bring in a fair number of hatchery fish, and fishing should improve. The river may get a little muddy today, but if the forecast is right it should be prime fishing by late in the week. Float fishing jigs, beads, or bait, drift fishing, nymphing, and swinging flies or spinners are all good techniques. There have also been some very bright wild coho caught on the Wilson the past couple weeks, so know your fish ID, and remember there is no retention of wild coho.

Anglers are reminded the Wilson River is closed to salmon fishing Aug. 1 to Dec. 31, upstream of Jordan Creek (River Mile 21.9).
