Nor-Cal Fishing Report

Fish Reports Staff

Report Date:

Season opener for our rivers and streams opens this Saturday, April 28th. Unfortunately we will not receive our first plant until next week. This was due to a flash flood at the Moccasin Hatchery. I have been in touch with the Fish and Wildlife Department and was told that we would be receiving our fish this year from the American River Hatchery. Feel free to contact our DFW representative, Ben Ewing. His contact number is 1-530-906-3934.

Lake Alpine is starting to thaw and can be fished around the ramp and on the other side where Silver Creek comes in the lake. Should be awesome fishing as Alpine County dumped a big load of trout just before winter. Cal Trans has plowed to the east end of the lake.

The road to Spicer will not be open until mid May according to the Forestry Department as there was a washout again in the same place as last year due to excess water runoff from the March rain storms. I will keep everyone updated as to when the road will open.

Camping for the opener will be limited to disperse camping as the Forestry Department have not opened any camp sites. You can also contact Big Trees State Park for additional camping places.

The North Fork of The Stanislaus and Beaver Creek will be tough to fish as the water is running higher due to snow melt so please use caution while fishing.

White Pines is due to be planted the week of May 1st. Blagen Road is now open. The new bridge is in.

Plan to purchase your fishing license ahead of time. We are the only retailer on the Highway 4 corridor that sell them and never know when our machine could go down.
