Report Date:
http://www.cortezcharters.comWhile the full moon had a definite negative effect on the offshore
bite, The inshore fishery exploded into some indescribable
Roosterfish action. Captain Adolofo reported day long action along
the south beaches nearly San Valentine. In 4 days Captain Adolofo
reported raising 96 Roosterfish to the fly landing 8. Captain Temo
using conventional gear recorded a 7 Roosterfish day and Captain
Cheva also using conventional gear reported an 8 Roosterfish day
along with Several Yellowtail jacks. The roosterfish are averaging
30 Lbs and are really aggressive to a top water pencil popper. The
Sailfish bite was sluggish but some nice sized Dorado were reported
in the weekly catch report. Because of the full moon our captains
reported a good bite early and late but the late morning and middle
part of the day was void of any action. The blue water is still
inside the bay.
Moving forward from last week with the changing conditions and after
a sluggish start to the week, the offshore Sailfish bite increased
dramatically. Our captains are reporting 3 - 4 Sailfish per day per
boat and the warm blue water is with in 1 mile of shore. The real
action continues to be the wide open inshore roosterfish bite south
of Zihuatanejo Bay near San Valentine. Returning New Jersey Anglers
Ron & Jeff Reinhardt fishing 3 days aboard the Dos Hermanos 1 with
Captain Adolofo landed 23 Roosterfish in the 15 - 50 lb class as
well as 2 Large Yellowtail Jacks. One day number 1 Jeff's third
cast using a Yozuri Pink and Yellow Surface Cruiser, was engulfed by
a monster rooster. After nearly an hour the fish was landed and
scaled 105.6 Lbs. ( 48 Kilos ) The fish was caught using a Shimano
Stratic 6000 reel and Power pro 30 lb test line.. The fish measured
64" long with a girth of 36". Had this fish been in any line class
but 30 lb., it would haver been a new world record. The 30 lb.
current record was taken in La Paz, checking in at 114 lbs.
Congratulations on a very unique catch.
