http://www.lakejennings.orgSo here it is August already! There's some summertime fun still to be had. We've got bass that are pretty much biting all over the lake, especially in the morning. They seem to be going for drop shot and purple and black rubber worms and also rubber lizards!
We had another 1,000 lbs. of catfish stocked this week in the lake. This brings us to a total of 8,000 lbs. so far this season.
If you're into night fishing, the catfish bite is great this time of year. Many anglers are happy with their stringer at the end of the night. The cats are hitting on mackerel, chicken livers and shrimp.
If you're looking for bluegill and/or redear, you can't go wrong dropping your line over in Half Moon Cove. They are biting on nightcrawlers and mealworms.
As of August 1st, we've returned to our regular hours of operation. Hours are Fridays & Saturdays 6:00 a.m. to midnight and Sundays 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Fishing from the campground shoreline is available and open daily 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Lake Jennings is a drinking water reservoir and remember, no body contact is permitted. There have been some warm days lately but you can keep cool by soaking a bandana and draping it over your neck or forehead. Mist your clothing and wearing light colors when you're here.
Love camping? The campground has many fun things for children (and kids at heart) to do! Tetherball, giant Jenga, Horseshoes, and Corn Hole. There is also a covered playground area available with a swing set for the kids. Head to the Pavilion any day for games like ping pong or foosball! Enjoy campfire s'mores with Ranger Rusty Saturday evenings at 6:30 p.m. Just call (619) 390-1623 or visit www.lakejennings.org to make your reservations. Weekends go fast so plan ahead. There are plenty of sites available during the week. Come spend a few days with us!
