The fishing here along the Colorado river is gong fantastic. The striper bite below the Davis dam is on fire. Mostly in the 1 pound range which is great for the dinner table. I have been hearing about a few in the larger size mostly in the casino row area. The smaller fish have been getting to your bait first but the anglers using lures have been getting some in the 5 to 9 pound range. Our local anglers Steve Baird and Tom Gallant are seen here clowning around as just coming in after having a great day on the water targeting these stripers. They were using anchovies and catching a fish with each cast. They did release a bunch but kept the ones that were injured due to swallowing the hook. The good news is they filet out easy and are great size for the frying pan. The trout bite is steady and anglers are getting some nice size rainbows. These lager fish are a bit picky so you will have to mix up and use and try your full arsenal to find out what is working the best.
