The lake temp has been in the low 50's making Trout fishing the main action out here, especislly because of today's 1000 pound plant of Mt. Lassen Trout.  Most of the trout are being caught either from the West Beach shoreline, across from the Marina or near the boat launch ramp on the East Shore.  Many of our anglers are working Mice Tails or casting out Dough Bait.  The garlic scented Dough Baits are the preferred baits to use out here.  Inflating Nightcrawlers and drifting them around the marina, if you have a boat is also a good bet  The coves out in Swallow Bay and especially Badger Cove are where I personally fish when i have a boat.  TheTrout schools seem to congregate in the super shallow water at the back of said coves.  If you are a lure fisherman, you should be throwing small Kastmasters, or Rooster Tails.  The Trout are really keyed in the Shad.  The small and Largemouth Bass are slow to bite but they are out there.  Slowly working a Senko on the bottom or a larger Spinner Bait, are the best techniques for the bass.  The Bass are also biting on Nightcrawlers, usually on the drop.  Casting with less weight is better for a slow drop.  The rock points out by the dam can be quite reliable spots to pick the Bass up.  Without a fish finder it might be a little difficult to find some structure where the Bass are hanging out.  From shore it is a tough bass bite.  The Striped Bass are running through the marina.  Most of our fisherman are catching Stripers while targeting Trout with Trout Bait around the marina.  Large Swimbaits like Savage Gears or Huddlestons are the only lures the stripers want.  Up from the marina, out past the island, is where you can target them.  They are hitting on these lures because they love to feed on the planted trout.  The Catfish are also a good bet.  Bet fishing with Anchovies, or Nightcrawlers are the main baits you are going to want to use.  Most of the catfish are beng caught on the points, on the shore.  Fishing the drop off, the catfish are biting much better in the evening so if the trout bite is slow in the mornings don't give up?
