Spots active at Shasta

Many bass anglers have been enjoying great action on Shasta Lake, catching spotted bass in between the rain bands that have passed through the North State since the new year. For those hardy souls that are not deterred by wet or cool weather, they have also enjoyed great action. The fish weren't getting any wetter, just the anglers.

A wide variety of plastics have been doing well with anglers fishing anywhere from along the shoreline, to offerings at 40 to 50 feet. Some of the techniques that have doing well include weighted wacky rigged senkos using nail weights, drop shots, ned rigs, as well as bodied jigs such as Yamamoto Hulagrubs and Leavitt's Let'em Buck skirted  jig bodies. For the jigs use a half to three quarter ounce football head, the heavier weights for the deeper depths. Fish slowly and pay strict attention to any subtle strike.
