That was a season opener to remember! Great weather and great fishing! I know some people were crying the blues and didn't catch very many fish, but I spent the 2 days prior to the opener checking every square inch of that lake with the fish finder and it paid off! Water temps are already in the mid 50s up top, and closer to 53 on the bottom where I checked. The highest concentrations of fish I saw were north of Sandy Point, the point off little hilton, and the east side of the north arm from Layton all the way up to the mouth of the Owens. All in 12-16ft of water. Leave the sliding indicators at home.

I was hanging midge larva about 6-8 inches off the bottom, with a copper tiger above and a leech as the top fly. Was getting grabs on all 3! Not to mention the crazy numbers of perch. My friends made perch tacos with all the perch we tossed in the livewell! I didn't get to try them, but the picture they sent to me made me drool just a little...
