In the past few weeks some anglers have caught a few winter steelhead throughout the creek and fish have been arriving at the hatchery trap as well. ODFW switched the Eagle Creek releases from early to late returns three years ago, and those efforts should bear fruit this year. Over the next few weeks, spring chinook should begin to make an appearance if water levels allow.
Keep in mind that long stretches of Eagle Creek do run through private property, particularly up near the hatchery and from an area below the lower ladder on down near Bonnie Lure to the mouth.
Anglers are advised to pay close attention to where you fish and we encourage you to ask permission prior to accessing or crossing private lands on your way to your favorite fishing hole.
