Some of the roads out here are muddy, but most have dried up save for a few up higher by long ears.
I went out this afternoon to scout for upcoming trips, and I was pleasantly surprised. Water wasn't the cleanest it could be, but I still managed a few fish. It's been cold the last week or so, and the flows have been stable but they won't stay this way for long with a big warming trend starting this weekend the runoff will be here before you know it.
Think big and bright right now. Lots of big (size 12) Caddis fluttering around, even saw a few fish come up and eat them despite the afternoon winds. There are still some spawning cutthroat in the system, but they're fairly obvious in a foot of water or less. I saw a few still paired up, but I'd expect most of these fish will be heading back down to the lake in the next couple of weeks. Please respect these fish and leave them along if you see them paired up on a redd.
