Today’s Fish Count: 10 Boats and 245 Anglers.

1,687 Rockfish, 828 Whitefish, 32 Sheephead, 14 Lingcod, 2 Sculpin, 1 Perch, 1 Sole, 3 Halibut, 7 Bonito, 1 Yellowtail, 17 Barracuda, 125 Calico Bass, and 40 White Seabass.

Bottom fishing for a variety of Rockfish species, plus Whitefish and Sheephead, has been very good. Today was no exception, but for Saturday’s anglers the White Seabass popped at the outer islands. After not seeing many in the counts over the last week, the Seabass were found while scoping out a squid bed. Using freshly caught squid, a couple of the overnight boats were able to throw some Seabass on deck. If not for Sea Lions and Sharks, the numbers would have been even better, but what they got was still very respectable. Is this the start to a renewed Seabass bite, or just a flash in the pants? Stay tuned as the boats will be back out tomorrow in search of “the ghost”
