Truckee River Fly Fishing Report

Orvis Company

Report Date:

Coming into this next week air temps are going to continue dropping and the water temp will slowly follow. The fall hatches will be plentiful, trout will be more active throughout the whole day. Keep nymphing (euro/indicator). Trout will still be located in seams and pocket water 1.5'-3' in depth, euro nymphing is very successful in these areas. If your looking to indicate, fish areas with a drop off that transitions into a deeper hole or run. Use emerger/cripple patters in slower sections of water. Trout will start to feed through out the day more consistently sipping bugs in the surface film or just below the surface. Fall streamers are very successful on the truckee. Crayfish and sculpin patters work very well in deep sections with structure, use polyleaders and sink tips to get these flies down.
