I launched out of Markley cove around 630am and headed to the main lake first thing. I started looking for fish and bait on main lake points and underwater humps. I was able to find quite a bit of bait in the 35-50’ range but found very few fish around the bait balls. I started with a Heavy Limits A-rig working from deep to shallow up the main lake points and was rewarded with a handful of nice largemouth in the 3-4lb range. As soon as the sun got on the water the A-rig bite died down, so I moved and started working rocky banks with large chunk rock with jigs. Dark brown with a brown/purple Yamamoto twin tail grub was the ticket for most of the day. Fish were as shallow as 7’ down to 30’. I moved to the narrows to try some last minute spots on my way back to the launch and was able to pick up some spinner bait fish on a River2Sea bling in a white/chartreuse color. Over all it was a relatively slow day but most of the fish I was able to pick up were over 3lbs. I finished the day with just over 16lbs for my best 5 and enjoyed a beautiful day on the water.
