Fishing conditions and Hatches: Fair-?
Temperatures are starting moderate, days are getting longer and we should be seeing things pick up in the next few weeks. Having said that they're calling for another cold snap next week but hopefully I can get an update over the weekend. With the cold temperatures the algae is gone, that combined with the flows dropping has made the fish a lot spookier. The midges are pretty much the only bug hatching but the perch fry are still getting flushed through the pipe so make sure you have light colored streamers ready. By now the fish are educated to perch imitations so you need to figure out how to present a dying perch realistically. A couple of our guides were up there last Friday (warmest day of the week) and their observation was "bigger is better". It seems that the trout's feeling is "if I'm going to put out the effort it better be worth it."
