Lake is almost totally open water. Able to drive to end of lake. Fly fishing at the top end of lake with leech and zebra midges with sinking line producing fish.

Ice is thawing. 60% of lake is open. Mallard cove north is open water. Road is open to the back end of the lake. Ice fishing is not safe at this time. Pato’s ice fishing derby winner was 24” rainbow trout. ......

Fishing should be good now through February. John Pato ice fishing derby is February 1st with a twenty dollar entry fee. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and third place with lots of raffle prizes. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. Always check ice thickness before walking out on ice. I drill a test hole once on ice. Ice is generally thinner at the shoreline. ......
