RP Report January 24, 2009

"We arrived to the bank at 08:30 hours, started trolling, but it was no-go on the Wahoo. There was a sign of Yellowfin on the bank. Once the anchor was dropped, it took some time for the Yellowfin to start biting. After a slow morning, it was an excellent afternoon. We had two fish over 200 pounds, and 13 Wahoo. Most of the Yellowfin were in the 130 to 150-pound range, with a few in the 40 to 80-pound category.

"Our lucky anglers today were Frank Harbin (227-pound Yellowfin tuna) and Steve Oba (208-pound Yellowfin tuna). Both fish were caught on Sardines. Kite action was a bit slow today, but we are hoping for a better day tomorrow.

"Weather today was a bit up and down. We had a stiff breeze (12 to 15 knots), overcast skies, and it was warm. All and all, it was a good day of fishing."

Royal Polaris Report January 25, 2009

Weather continues to be windy, with 12 to 15 knots, overcast skies, and some rain. With very little current today, fishing was on the slow side. We had good current in the morning, but by late afternoon, it was back to slow moving. We scratched most of the day, with one fish over 200 pounds, with the rest in the 130 to 180-pound category.

Big fish honors today go to Frank Harbin (211-pound Yellowfin tuna). On the bright side, two of our new passengers getting their personnel best: Jim Tallerico (168 pound Yellowfin tuna) and Warren Myers (187 pound Yellowfin tuna).

It was about 50/50 for bites today, with half the fish coming on the kite. With two tanks open, the crew was very busy tonight making flyers.
