There are summer steelhead throughout the system, and spring Chinook fishing has been fair to good when the river has been fishable. The Sandy is glacially-fed andprone to getting off color after several days of hot weather.
USGS hydrological data for June 24 shows Sandy flows declining over the past week to 1,530 cfs, a gauge reading of 9.2 feet and the water temperature on the South Fork climbing to near 54° F.
