It’s the summer doldrums on the Clackamas. There are steelhead throughout the system, but anglers will have to work hard to catch them. It doesn’t help that the water is low, clear and warm. Best bet may be to leave the Clackamas to the rafting crowd for now and plan to hit the water again when the coho start arriving in August/September.
Barton County Park and McIver State Park are open.
USGS hydrological data for July 29 shows river flows have dropped a bit to 704 cfs, water temperature has climbed to 66.2F, and the gage height at 10.73 ft. All of the readings come from the Estacada gauge near Milo McIver State Park.
