Strange days indeed! If the year wasn’t bizarre enough, we’ve got yellow Aspen showing in not one area or two areas, but in four different areas around the Lake and others have noticed the early Fall advancement in other locations. We don’t know what that means, but stay tuned. We do have a chance for some ThunderBoomers on Monday and Tuesday – may want to pack those ponchos.
Some good news – the water issues at Bishop Park, Intake 2 and The Forks have been resolved and those campgrounds are open for business with good water.
We’re still trying to get stockings for the Lake, both from Wright’s Rainbow out of Idaho and Oregon’s Desert Springs Trout Farm. Stay tuned on this, too!
As you can see by the lure picture, ‘Dr’ Rick needed to be called in for a hook extraction. Father and son (it was in the son’s leg) couldn’t believe how easy and painless it came out.
Fishermen are still catching fish – it’s just taking a little more finesse and patience. NightCrawlers, PowerBait-MouseTails and Salmon Eggs are currently the baits of choice. Head back to the Inlets, but also try around the rock piles and near the rock slides. Father-daughter team made some great memories along with catching some dinner using NightCrawlers and MouseTails.
Looks like the Auxiliary Spillway workforce is back at it and the rumors about dynamiting those large boulders were just rumors. The concrete flying helicopters are not and that is one option to get concrete over to the spillway. Stay tuned for more pictures next week.
We had to most awesome show last week – the Bald Eagle chasing the Osprey right in front of the building – lasted for about 5 minutes. If you’re out on the Lake, keep your eyes to the sky you never know what you might see. Speaking of never knowing what you might see – yup, that was an inflatable swan out floating on the Lake – strange days indeed.
Looks like the skeeters are gone at least up at the landing. North Lake still has quite a few and the back of our Lake once you get into the shade and out of the breeze.
Fishing etiquette is once again becoming a bit of a problem at the Lake and we don’t like problems. If you come upon someone fishing, please don’t fish right next to them – take a bit of hike farther down and don’t cast over into their spot. Same at the Inlet, there are so many areas to fish on this Lake go find another ‘soon to be’ favorite spot. This is also an addition by one of our customers - “If you have your boat pulled all the way into the Inlet and are hogging the whole inlet how about leaving after everyone in your boat has caught 5 to 10 fish so that others can have a chance. The inlets aren't as big as last year due to the reduced water flow and when you hog the whole inlet for 3 hours while everyone in the boat catches MORE than their limit its pretty rude. We all know that there is a whole big wide lake out there and lots of room but when people are being polite and waiting for inlet access it’s pretty rude to hog it for the whole afternoon.”
Also, DON’T FORGET TO PICK-UP YOUR TRASH!!!
