According to Captain Temo Verboonen, they are seeing plenty of fish throughout the area from 12 to 18 miles or so, with the boats having from 2 to 5 strikes a day on both, sailfish and black or blue marlin. The marlin action this week was best on the slow trolled rigged baits and the artificials and had apparently slowed up using the live baits, which is an unusual twist. The inshore fishing is excellent for the jack cravelle, chulas and bonitos and the pencil poppers are really doing their job. Temo says it's really fun fishing the jacks right now and easy to leader a dozen or more per fishing day on light tackle.

I/Z Climate: Mostly sunny and warm, near picture perfect, with temps from 72 nights to 90 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Very good, temps from 82 inshore to 84-85 offshore, with blue water at about 10 miles and on out. Light surface breezes and generally calm.

Best Fishing Area: Starts at about 12 miles outside the Bay.

Best Bait/Lure: Rigged dead baits were working best, along with the artificials, for the billfish. Inshore was pencil poppers and live bait for the jack cravelle.
