Water Conditions:

145 cfs above the aqueduct and 63 below it. Runoff may be starting to show in a big way up higher, especially on warm days.

Fishing Conditions and Hatches: Good

Have not had many reports in the shop. If you fish it please report in on what you find. Water may be getting colder and higher w/ runoff so keep that in mind. If you are out for the easier targets, try fishing the gauging station pool up the highway a little.

Recommended Flies:

Similar to Rush Creek, LVC is two distinctly different streams. Above highway 395 there are a lot of hatchery fish, with some wild ones, too. Attractor dries like #10-14 Stimulators, Humpy's, Royal Wulff's and good ol Elk Hair Caddis #14-16. Attractor nymphs like PT's, Hare's Ears, Prince Nymphs in #14-18, #18 Micro Mayflies work well with a good presentation. Midges #20 WD-40's in black or grey or Zebra Midges are always a go-to for me.

Below 395 there are fewer fish, for sure, and less holding water, too. But you can sniff out some wild browns. For dries: Orange & Yellow Stimulators #10-14, Elk Hair Caddis #12-16, Parachute Adams #14-18.

Guides Hint: Cover water and look for the slower/deeper pools and eddies to find holding water. If possible try to use a shorter lighter rod in these tight conditions. An 8 ft (or even less) 3 wt is ideal. Stop by the shop to try some out.
