The water on the Crooked just rose up and conditions are excellent out there. The fish have much more room to spread out. Blue wing olives are still the most consistent hatch out there, be prepared for them to start coming off the water in the afternoon. Fish will also key into the midge hatch in the evenings. With some beautiful days in the forecast, expect to see some caddis and pale morning duns coming off the water here and there. Nymphing should be super productive out there. When the water goes up it can dislodge nymphs from the river bottom. It’s a great time to try some larger stonefly and mayfly nymphs. The typical BWO nymphs and midge pupa patterns will also be very productive. The canyon should be greening up and the fishing should be excellent. The forecast looks amazing, not too hot and not too cold. Get out there and have some fun catching some high-desert trout!
