Although the weather has been unsettled with thunderstorms, it hasn't stopped the anglers from enjoying the good weather inbetween. Berkeley would be proud, as their power bait, power worms, and power eggs have taken a lot of limits since the resort opened on the 21st. DFG stocked twice, Alpers once and the surprise visit from the Bridgeport Enhance program last Sunday. Not many of these little fatties have seen a stringer and continue to taunt the worms.

The rain drenched the high elevations adding ato the runoff, and there's a hint of snow heading our way at the 11,000 foot level by Monday evening late. Weather is supposed to continue through next Thursday, but then you know the weathermen, great job security for a 90% margin of error.

Lures are the typical Thomas Bouyant red/gold, silver prism Super Duper, Cripple's in gold and kastmaster's in silver prism. Fly anglers have seen a lot of action with the better anglers catching up to 40 fish (releasing) in a day. To say the least, it's been impressive.

Weighed 2 Alpers, one by Ray Henriksen of Highland at 2lb 15 oz on a fly and tried to release her but she would not revive, and a 3lb by Scott Chevalier of Redondo Beach on a power worm. Great job! See you on the water.

Virginia Lakes Resort is located near the top of Conway Summit between Mono Lake and Bridgeport, CA. We have everything you need to enjoy the Eastern Sierra. Check out our WEBSITE.

Summer showers started the weekend with a bang clearing the waters leaving only the die hards to catch the ravenous trout. Little Virginia turned in a few nice numbers from 2 lbs up to 3.5 lbs. We were fortunate to get Alpers infamous beauties for both Big and Little Virginia last week along with a nice plant from Fish and Game for both lakes. Unfortunately the campground gate was locked and didn't get any fish. It's hard on a lake to drain the resource......

The weather has been anything but bad this past week, making ice fishing a bad idea. Little Virginia has about 60% ice which is rotten but the open water is producing well. Big Virginia is not thawing as fast but should be ice free depending on the weather in about 8 days. Trumbull Lake is ice free. Worms, according to Webster, any numerous slender soft-bodied, legless, bilaterally symmetrical inverterbrates. Trout only see food, we see a......
