Good spring fishing.

 

Pretty much perfect weather and good fishing. Flows are mellow this spring and of course that makes the fishing pretty good. Good mainly as I can wade into most of my spots earlier than other years. Last few years it’s been pumping right now. All of the water is coming out of Lake Tahoe, so the entire river is fishable, with good flows all over.

Getting a lot of bugs. Most of these trouts don’t stick their heads up though. The bugs you should be nymphing are march  browns, and baetis, mid-size stones, stuff like that. Big ticket items would be sculpins, and crayfish. Though flows are lower than average for this time, it’s still a bit big. Fish the inside first, then outside. Don’t wade like a water buffalo rolling into a spot
