Got on the water about 6am and headed to some off shore rocky structure. I was throwing whopper plopper 90 in blue gill color. My partner was tossing a spook in bone color. Plopper drew a strike within the first couple casts. Missed the first one so my partner fallowed up with his spook and we had our first fish of the day. Continued to fish some main lake points with rock structure and caught a couple more top water fish.
Switched it up and ran up the creek arm and tried to find some fish up there with not much luck. Had striper boil a few feet off the bow but wasn’t long enough to get a cast into them. Talked to some guys that were trolling some crank baits and having a decent time picking up some striper.
Ran around the lake and tried to continue on what pattern we had from the morning with no more luck. Threw the whole tackle box at them and then decided to go back to the same area we had fished in the morning. We picked up a few more fish the drop shot. I was throwing the XZone finesse swammer in bass candy color. My partner was throwing a morning dawn roboworm and both were getting bites. Found most of our fish this way was coming in the 15-20 foot range. Had a great day even though the bite is still a little tough.
