Hooray, summer arrived a bit late, but very welcome nevertheless. We had a week of strange weather when the sun finally hit the Sierra, and it came with a bang. The busiest weekend since we opened on the 21st of May, I could have sworn it was the 4th.

Fishing has been excellent with Blake Rupert of Santa Ana pulling out a 4lb 1 oz Alpers on Power Bait, Jeff Paggi of Monrovia caught a nice 3lb 8 oz Alpers on a lure, and Michael Losorelli of Corona caught a 3lb 15oz Alpers on power bait.

Bait getting hits are Natural Cheese power bait, chunky cheese yellow, crawlers, and salmon eggs.

Lures for the week are still red/gold Buoyant, Lil\' Jake gold/red dots, large rainbow Kastmaster, and gold hot shots.

Flies working were red throated Matuka\'s #8, brown hackle peacock #14-16, Griffith\'s Gnat, Adams #16, Light Cahill and small olive scuds. Backcountry is on fire with small dark midges (Griffith\'s Gnat, Grey Hackle Peacock #16-18 and #18 Mosquitoes). Bring plenty of bug juice or keep your head in netting or you will be eating the gnats and mosquitoes by the thousands. See you on the water!....carolyn

The temperature is starting to rise as is the lake temperature, it's gone from 48 to 49 degrees about 15" under the surface. DFG stocked on the 8th and a supplemental stocking provided by the Mono County Fisheries Commission funded thru the Fine Fund which was approved......

Does anyone know when summer is supposed to arrive, it seems as though it has passed us up as we are still in the winter moder at the upper elevations (9000 feet plus). Afternoon thunderstorms have plagued the area for 11 straight days, and just when we thought it was clearing up, it hits again. Rain, snow, snow flurries, and cold temperatures, but it didn't stop a lot of anglers as our parking lot has been full most of the weekend. Anglers were......
