The Twin Lakes have been seeing consistent action, mainly subsurface. Rain and storms over the past week have mixed the water a bit, cooling down surface temperatures. The topwater eats are happening in the mornings and later in the afternoon. Callibaetis and terrestrials are working best. Nymphing around 10 feet down or more is a good way to go. Down deep chironomids and balanced leeches are killer but don’t hesitate to try a callibaetis nymph or dark assassin. Damsel nymphs, leeches, and streamers can be fished in shallower areas; however, make sure to check water temperatures so that fish don’t belly up when landed. This week is starting cooler than average and then looks to move back into some heat. For campers, a friendly reminder that having a fire is prohibited right now, for good reason.
