  • Stocking: The last stocking of 1,000 lbs. was the week of August 2nd. The next catfish stocking will be the week of August 23rd. Another 1,000 pounds will go into the lake! For an updated stocking schedule, click HERE.
  • What's the catch? When fishing in hot temps like this past weekend, our rangers recommend fishing in the shade of the treeline or t-dock. Most varieties of fish will be retreating to the shade on bright, hot days. The t-dock is an excellent place to cast because fish will hang out in the deep oxygenated water of the current. Try using a nightcrawler letting most of it dangle. The catfish bite was strong this weekend. Most of the cats were pulled during night fishing using tried and true mackerel and chicken livers. A couple of larger cats were pulled weighing in at 40 and 32 pounds (see pics below). We have a large selection of dip baits in the bait shop if the mackerel isn't working for you.
  • Reminder: There is no fishing from the boat dock, dock ramp, or boat launch. Likewise, all boats need to maintain at least a 50 foot distance from the boat dock as a measure of safety. Thank you for your compliance!
  • Lake Open on Labor Day: On Monday, September 6th the lake will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Boat rentals and launches are available. There are a few sites left in our campground for the holiday weekend. Click HERE to book a reservation.
  • Conditions: The current temperature is 80 degrees. New Moon is Sunday, September 6th. For a complete weather report in Lakeside, click HERE.
  • Job Openings: We're hiring for several positions at the lake. We are looking for two part-time Assistant Recreation Rangers to work in the bait shop as well as an Assistant Maintenance Ranger to help maintain the property and facilities. If you are interested in finding out more information regarding these positions, visit the Helix Water District's Career Page.
  • Lakefront Firepit Rentals: Firepit rentals are available at the lake Friday, August 20th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. They are $72 per pit and can accommodate up to 6 people. Wood, fire starter, and Adirondack chairs are included. Fees and advance reservation are required. No four-legged friends please! You can rent a firepit online by clicking HERE. If you'd like to purchase any of our add-on packages, i.e. s'mores kit, tailgate party, glow party, etc. call (619) 596-1306.
  • Campground News: The campground shoreline is open to the public for fishing every day 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Buy a fishing permit at the campground kiosk and enjoy access to the Sentry Point shoreline. Don't forget to take a pic in the big green chair and tag us so we can load a free fishing permit on to your account!
  • We love receiving pictures from our fishermen and campers! If you have a picture to share, please send it to ranger@lakejennings.org and we may feature it in our newsletter or social media pages.
