A couple changes on the Truckee River.
Weather is cooler, and flows have dropped. Truckee didn’t get out of the 60’s the other day. Flows are down to around 300 cfs here in the Hirsch.
The weathers the big thing. Lows in the 30’s and highs barely bucking 70. We’ve pretty much had 90’s all summer. Water temps this week are not an issue. We’re getting towards the end of August and the nights get cold. Much cooler in Reno too, and on that end of the river.
We all knew flows would drop. They’re closing it down out of the lake. The gates have been open out of Lake Tahoe since early spring. 300 cfs ain’t bad for the middle part of the river here. They’re around 200 in Reno.
Air quality has been horrible, then good a day later. You never know until you wake up in the morning. The Caldor fire is not good. It’s demoralizing and depressing to see what people and our forests are going through. The Dixie fire is on a whole different level. If you’re wondering how the fishing is in the smoke. Trout like cloud cover. Smoke acts like cloud cover.
