Aqueduct fishing absolutely blew up last week with anglers scoring limits of striper and heavy stringers of catfish. The striper have been boiling on baitfish, and anglers who happened to be in the right spot at the right time absolutely clobbered them using topwater baits, white jerkbaits, and flukes. Bait anglers did well using jumbo live minnows, cut baits, and lugworms. David Childress of Copes caught several striper using chicken liver which doubles as excellent catfish bait. The morning sessions have provided the best action, but anglers reported decent fishing in the evenings and at night as well. The hefty catfish were eating anything that smells, but sardines, chicken liver and dip bait were some of the favorite baits. The bass bite has been good, and anglers used weightless Senkos, flukes, and topwater to fool the largemouth.
