The first trout plant of the season went in yesterday morning. The lake level fluctuated by a few feet daily, but Pyramid remained near 90 percent of capacity last week. Water temperatures have been in the upper sixties, and the weed beds have begun to die-off. Fishing was decent with some anglers reporting excellent fishing and others reporting being skunked. Reaction and finesse baits have both been working for bites. A 6.8-pound bass was reported by an angler throwing large crankbaits near the weed beds. Anglers also reported fishing the weed beds early with topwater. Later in the day the weed lines and pockets have been producing with Texas rigged worms in Aaron’s Magic, Green Wienie, and Ox Blood. Striper have been eating cut baits and blood worms near the Marina, Yellowbar, and Brazos. Anglers also reported scoring striper on jerkbaits and Kastmasters on points during windy conditions. Catfish ate chicken liver, sardines, and dip bait in deeper coves and in the marina channel.
