Stripping flies on a fast sinking line has still been the most productive method

We have been getting into large fish recently, but you have to put in the work to get them. Bites are few, but the fish willing to eat are usually a good size. We have moved into the Middle Part of the season and typically numbers go down with quality of fish going up. Water temps are in the mid 50s again at the surface. The cutthroat trout are coming in shallow and have been suspending around 10-15 feet. The indicator bite has been ok, just make sure you are changing your depths constantly.

Stripping flies on a fast sinking line has still been the most productive method. Make sure to count your line down to depth. I like to change my depth every cast by letting my line sink 5 seconds more each cast until I reach a 60 second and then repeat the process starting by counting the line down 10 seconds until you get a bite and can focus in on the depth the fish are holding.

Flies we Suggest: Boobies (Spanish Olive, Cat Whisker, Diablo), Pyramid Lake Beetle, Bellyache Minnow, Jans Tui-Chub, Balanced Leech, Holographic Midge, Pyramid Lake Fly Selection
