  • Stocking: The lake was stocked with 1,500 pounds of trout the week of December 27th. The next stocking of 1,500 pounds will go into the lake this week for a total of 8,500 pounds stocked this season. For a complete stocking schedule, click HERE.
  • What's the catch?  The best time to catch trout is in the morning when they are actively feeding. Look for them near the shore in areas with shelter where they can hide from the bass and birds of prey. Our rangers recommend power eggs to fish for trout. There are a couple of varieties available in the bait shop. Inflated nightcrawlers using a sinker to float them up from the bottom is also a tried and true method at our lake. Bass were biting from and around the t-dock this weekend. Spoons and Rapalas were the lures being used, but a bite was also reported on a mini jig. The sunfish are hanging out in Half Moon Cove and off the t-dock. The past few weekends we have seen a couple of sizeable ones caught on wax worms and nightcrawlers. The catfish bite seems to have slowed down as we had no reports this weekend. Don't forget to send us pics of your catch! You can tag us @lakejennings on social media or email them to ranger@lakejennings.org.
  • Martin Luther King Junior Day: The lake is open on Monday, January 17th from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in observance of the holiday. Join us for boating, fishing, hiking, picnicking, and much more!
  • National Hat Day: Saturday, January 15th is National Hat Day! All Lake Jennings hats will be discounted 10%. Already have an LJ hat? Wear it on Saturday for a free fishing permit or day use access!
  • Conditions: The current water temperature is a cool 60 degrees optimal for rainbow trout. The sun has been rising around 6:50 a.m. each morning and setting around 4:50 p.m. For a complete weather report in Lakeside, click HERE.
  • Campground: We're looking for Volunteers Park Hosts to live and work in our campground! Exchange a minimum of 20 hours of labor per week including weekends and holidays for a campsite that includes water and electricity. Park Hosts greet and assist campers to ensure they have an enjoyable stay in our campground. If you're interested in this position, go to Helix Water District's career page.
