We had an excellent morning of tuna fishing. We started getting bites around 1 or 2 am and shortly after day light enjoyed steady action on nice grade tuna. There we’re the usual two classes of fish. The stocker grade (30-60 pounds) and the larger grade (100-180 pounds).
We released most of the smaller ones and kept a few for chunks. Charles Millhollin picked off a 140 in the dark and then a 220 shortly after daylight. Charles caught the days largest tuna and earned himself the $100.00 Jerry Brown Line One gift certificate. Bill Rinkes picked up a a couple of 140–150-pound fish in the dark. Mike Brown, Karl Wheeler and Brian Boatman did their usual thing and picked up some nice mid-range hundred-pound fish.
Dan Gaudy picked up a 195 and Steve George a 180. The afternoon never really materialized but the morning action made up for the lack of afternoon action.
